WETTING AGENT
Pasand O-Wet wetting agent is amphiphilic molecules, meaning they contain both a hydrophilic (water-loving) and a lipophilic (oil-loving) group. In Oil-Based Muds (OBM), they ensure that weighting materials like Barite and drill cuttings remain "oil-wet," preventing them from clumping or migrating into the water phase. In Water-Based Muds (WBM), they help the fluid penetrate tight pores and stabilize shale.
WETTING AGENT Details
Features And Benefits
- Changes the surface of solids from water-wet to oil-wet (in OBM), ensuring system stability.
- Prevents "mud thickness" caused by water-wet solids in oil-based systems.
- It improves emulsion stability and helps prevent water in HTHP filtrate.
- Acts as a secondary emulsifier, strengthening the bond between oil and water.
- Helps form a thin, tough, and low-permeability filter cake on the wellbore wall.
Application
- Pasand O-Wet may be added to a drilling fluid as a pre-treatment before displacement or cementing jobs are initiated to eliminate any occurrence of water wetting. It can also be added to reverse a water wet solids problem.
- Recommended treatment levels for water wet solids contamination, such as water flows and CO2 intrusion are 1-4 lb/bbl. Begin treatment as soon as wetting characteristics are observed.
